Sauerkraut

Ingredients:

1 jar or tin of sauerkraut
9fl oz/250 ml apple juice
1 onion
2 juniper berries
1 clove
a few peppercorns
1/2 bay leaf
1 clove of garlic
5oz/150 g streaky bacon
1 tbsp flour
2 tbsp unsalted butter
Cooking time between 1-2 hours
Approx 400 kcal = 1674 kj


Preparation:

Wash the sauerkraut under running water, flake it with a fork and place it in the moistened RÖMERTOPF. Pour in the apple juice. Chop the onion and mix with the sauerkraut, together with the herbs and the crushed garlic. Cut the bacon into strips and stir into the sauerkraur. Close the lid. When the sauerkraut is cooked, stir in the flour and addd the butter for finishing touch.
